Peacock Loop Diner
Some mornings just call for a trip to the diner, so after a late night, we made our way to Peacock Loop Diner. Not having been to The Loop in a while, we were surprised by all of the hustle and bustle, especially on a Sunday morning. Plenty of restaurants had their doors open greeting customers on a crisp fall morning. We made our way down the street to find a spacious dining room inside Peacock Loop Diner. We were surprised by the number of diners saddled up to the tables and bar stools. The space consists of booths, regular tables, multiple bar areas and a giant rotating circular booth.
The atmosphere made me think most fellow brunchers were there after a long night as well, because despite the crowd, it was eerily quiet. And while our servers were nice they seemed a bit tired as well, which sort of explains the overall feel – busy but quiet.
The menu offered up enough options and we went for two of the specialty items. Finals Breakfast Sandwich was the winner with a fried egg, ham steak, bacon and cheddar between two waffles, served with a siracha sauce. It was good and earned points for uniqueness with the waffle serving as the bun. We also tried the Chicken & Waffles, which was simply fried chicken strips on a waffle… for some this is probably fine, but we would prefer a little something extra with this dish. And of course, my other half had to try the Biscuits and Gravy, because it boasts a chorizo gravy. From what he tells me it was quite good and had some heat.
If you’re looking for a diner, the Peacock Loop Diner is a place to check out. It’s a fun part of St. Louis and we love the vibe of the pedestrian strip. Expect to see a group of college kids, families just getting out of church and everyone in between.
