The Barn
Comfort food at its finest! If you are looking for a good, solid breakfast, you definitely want to check out The Barn in Crestwood. Their menu boasts a variety of dishes, some unique to them and plenty of standards that will delight your classic breakfast fans. Open on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as during the week, it’s a place that you can put on your list not matter what time of day you are craving brunch. They open early and don’t close until mid-afternoon.
Once seated, you will feel like you are at home, or perhaps in your grandma’s dining room. You will find your neighbors friendly and the wait staff casually works the room in a laid back sort of way. It’s likely that you will even see the chef come out to deliver some meals and chat with the crowd. In the kitchen, the crew is keeping busy with endless amounts of pancakes, bacon, hash browns and eggs. You can get a traditional breakfast; the biscuits and gravy are highly recommended (the best outside of what my Mother-in-law makes on the farm – for the record that is the highest compliment I can bestow), or we recommend branching out just a little to try the strata, quiche or anything else they have as the special of the day. We have never been disappointed with any of the dishes. However let’s just say some aren’t waistline friendly. So if you plan to hit up the nearby Grants Trail, perhaps swap the hash browns for fruit. Take a word of warning, though, you will be envious when you see your neighbor’s hash browns!
The Barn is a good neighborhood find, which can be crowded if large parties are there. The friendly, family-owned restaurant works quickly to get you seated, so if you do have to wait a few minutes it’s worth it. After a couple visits you will feel like a regular.
